 Common Name: Knautia

Pin cushion-like, 2", round flowers have brilliant ruby-red petals and white stamens. Butterflies love to drink their sweet nectar.

Knautia has a bushy habit, making it an ideal filler plant in the flower border. 'Mars Midget' is a tremendous improvement over the species. It blooms from early summer into fall.

Homeowner Growing & Maintenance Tips:

Knautia prefers full sun and moderately fertile to lean soil that is slightly alkaline. Once established, it is quite drought-tolerant. Though it does tend to self-sow, this is beneficial because it otherwise tends to be short-lived. Knautia is excellent for cutting.
