 Common Name: Bellflower-Carpathian
Common Name (Alternative): Carpathian Harebell

  • A profusion of 2-3 inch wide, violet-blue, cup-shaped, upward-facing flowers gracefully cover the dark green foliage from late spring to late summer if deadheaded regularly

  • Forms compact, rounded clumps making it a good choice for edging, containers, the front of borders, or growing among rocks

  • Prefers to have its roots in cool soil; summer mulch is helpful, particularly in hot summers

  • Tolerates a wide range of conditions and spreads rapidly as long as good drainage is provided; performs poorly in very dry or wet soils

GROUP 2:
This group of Campanula is a robust, rock garden species, and many will thrive on sunny walls or banks. They require moist, very well-drained soil and will grow in either sun or partial shade.

Most members of this group appreciate some afternoon shade in southern regions.

Plants can be propagated either by seed or division in early spring or early fall.
