This floriferous selection holds its creamy white flowers facing outward above the compact, uniform clump of silvery green foliage with burgundy stems.

Helleborus GOLD COLLECTION® -- A REVOLUTION IN THE US HELLEBORE MARKET!

Imagine 100% of your hellebore stock blooming the first year!  Get ready for the incredible impulse sales of these high profit items!  Until now, this has never been possible since hellebores are typically grown from seed.  Thanks to the incredible hybridizing work done by the folks at Heuger, we have an entire new series of incredibly early blooming H. niger hybrids—all of which bloom the first year—since they are all produced from tissue culture.  The varieties are all guaranteed to be genetically uniform, high quality plants, the best of their species.

Since they are incredibly early bloomers, members of the Helleborus GOLD COLLECTION® are ideal for retailers who are looking to extend their sales through the winter months.  Florists and other retailers who sell plants year round will find the Heuger hellebores to be the perfect companions to sell alongside Pointsettias, Christmas Cactus, Cyclamen, Primroses, and other early bloomers for the Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter, and early spring markets.  The added benefit of the Heuger hellebores is that since they are hardy perennials, they can be enjoyed as an indoor flowering plant during the winter and then planted outdoors to enjoy for many, many more years in the garden.

We currently offer five varieties of the Helleborus GOLD COLLECTION®.  They are available in 72ct plugs for both Early Summer 2010 and Spring 2011 shipping.  This is a one year crop compared to the typical two year crop of seeded hellebores.  Upon receipt, the plugs should be potted up into 1-gal containers and put directly outside.  This is a cool season crop that will put on most of its growth in the fall.  The plants will be finished and 100% will be in bloom for mid-November through March sales, depending on the variety (see individual descriptions for bloom times).

Homeowner Growing & Maintenance Tips:

Hellebores are enjoyable to grow because they are low-maintenance and disease/pest-free.  Simply trim back last year's foliage in the spring.  They can adapt to almost any growing conditions.  Though they prefer rich, moist, organic soil, they will also grow in sandy or clay soil.  They can even tolerate short periods of drought.  The soil pH can range anywhere from slightly acidic to slightly alkaline.

Hellebores are shade plants that need to be protected from the hot afternoon sun.  They will grow in full shade under large deciduous trees as long as they receive full sun from winter to spring before the trees get their leaves.

WARNING: Hellebores are poisonous. Do not consume any part of the plant!
