| | Common Name: Thrift-Common Common Name (Alternative): Sea Pink |
Large, bright rose pink, ball-shaped flower clusters are produced on thin, leafless stalks held about 3-4 in. above the compact mound of dark green, evergreen, grassy foliage. These little wonders are produced freely from mid-spring to early summer.
As its name implies, Sea Pinks are found naturally along coastlines where few other plants can handle the high salt concentration. Inland, this attribute makes them useful for planting along sidewalks or driveways that are salted in winter. They are also good candidates for rock gardens, between pavers, or in troughs.

Sea Thrift is one of the easiest perennials to grow. It thrives in full sun and loamy or sandy soils that are well-drained, especially in the winter. Wet soil for extended periods encourages root rot. Thrifts prefer cool temperatures and low humidity. Where summers are hot and humid, it should be grown in part shade.
