Baptisia 'Lavender Stardust' PPAF

Common Name: False Indigo

This is a beautiful and bold new Baptisia from the Walters Gardens, Inc. hybridizing program. Its claim to fame is its extremely long, 18” flower spikes that extend high above the full, wide clump of foliage. In early summer, flowers open lilac purple with pale yellow keels and lighten to dusty lavender purple. Flowers are more of a reddish hue than B. australis. This easy to grow, extremely long-lived perennial will make a large, eye-catching specimen in your garden.

Baptisia is easy to grow and will thrive with little maintenance.  There are many potential applications in the landscape including meadow plantings, as a backdrop in borders, or as a specimen.  Plants are very long-lived once established.
