Cerastium tomentosum 'Cloud Cover' PPAF CPBRAF

Common Name: Snow in Summer

This silvery groundcover will fill both your hearts and your gardens! 'Cloud Cover' is early to emerge in the spring with silver foliage, spreading out like a carpet to fill garden spaces. In late spring the foliage will be completely covered with pure white flowers. After flowering is completed, this selection holds its form and color, providing garden interest through summer and into late fall. Compared with seed strains, 'Cloud Cover' is vegetatively produced for perfect uniformity when planting in mass; the plant tends to be more compact with thicker leaves, a more intense silver color, and larger flowers.

Cerastium is most commonly used as a groundcover in low water gardens, rock gardens, and perennial beds, but can also be useful as a filler or spiller in mixed containers. Try Cerastium in pockets of stone walls, on slopes, or in poor, dry soil where other perennials struggle. It grows especially well in northern zones where summers are cooler and less humid. Its combination of silver foliage and white blooms make it an excellent selection for Moon Gardens!
