From breeder David Tristram, who also brought us C. 'Walberton Yellow', comes this incredibly brilliant orange flowered Crocosmia with a large, scarlet red eye. 8-12 buds set the stems ablaze in mid through late summer atop the clump of dark green, sword-like leaves. Since the interbud length is shorter than other varieties, this plant has better floral impact. It is free-flowering with upright or front facing blooms.
Unlike some varieties of Crocosmia which tend to overcrowd themselves in the landscape, Bright Eyes will not do so and it will continue to bloom throughout the season.

Plant Crocosmia in full sun and well-drained soil that does not become waterlogged. Its fleshy roots (corms) should be planted 2-4" deep and 6-8" apart.
Crocosmia will quickly grow and overcrowd itself, and offsets of the original plant may be lifted and moved. In zones 1-5, corms should be lifted and stored indoors over the winter, much like cannas or dahlias. In zones 6-7, a deep winter mulch will help to protect the roots and increase the plant's chances of survival. No special treatment is necessary in zones 8-9.
