'Forged in Fire' is a mid-size selection of False Sunflower notable for its dense, darkly colored habit and large burnt orange eyes on the flowers. The eye-zone is most prominent as the flower opens, starting a dark burgundy and lightening as the flower matures. Each flower is semi-double, with the additional petals prolonging the life of the flower while leaving the center open to visiting pollinators. Dark green foliage has excellent mildew resistance. Its great height adds impact and texture to the garden.
Heliopsis have traditionally been an excellent tall perennial for the middle or back of the flower border. It has a bushy, well-branched form and glossy, deep green, triangular leaves - a real workhorse in the garden! Use this plant in combination containers, as a cut flower, or to attract butterflies to your garden.
