A unique garden plant that is true to its namesake! 24" tall tube-like pitchers will be a "conversation piece" with most every visitor to your garden. The tall, lime green pitchers have red hoods with distinctive veining. Flowers appear in summer as tall, nodding blooms a similar red color to the pitchers. In fall the pitchers turn burgundy with black veins and white accents on top. Keep constantly moist and use a heavy peat mix or media simulating a bog environment for best success. Regular potting soil and fertilizer are detrimental to the plant. From Plant Delights Nursery.
Sarracenia, commonly known as Pitcher Plants, are fascinating carnivorous plants renowned for their unique pitcher-shaped leaves that trap and digest insects. These plants are native to North America and thrive in moist, bog-like environments. Sarracenia can be grown in containers with a peat-based mix to simulate bog conditions, adding a dramatic touch to patios and balconies.
