This distinctive medium sized hosta forms an upright mound of tightly rippled, twisted, long and narrow leaves. The slightly shiny, green leaves display yellow margins which lighten to creamy yellow in summer and mature plants have red speckled petioles. Lavender flowers top the clump in midsummer.
‘Electrocution’ is a good grower and would look sharp in a short, rounded container to contrast with its more upright habit. Not as painful as its name would imply, but then again we would expect nothing less original from its colorful hybridizer, Tony Avent.
Hostas are exceedingly popular perennials in today's gardens due to their versatility in the landscape. Their subtle colors, tall flower scapes, and broad, coarse leaves fill a niche in garden designs that few other plants can achieve. Their large leaves provide excellent coverage for dying bulb foliage. Hostas also grow well in city environments where the air may be polluted by car exhaust, etc.
