Mangave 'Racing Stripes' PP31251

MAD ABOUT MANGAVE® Collection

Common Name: Mangave

Like the name implies, this succulent's notable feature is its central band of lighter green to complement its dark green margins. The leaves are stiff but arch down slightly. Although 'Center of Attention', 'Racing Stripes', and 'Shadow Waltz' share the feature of a central stripe, they are all from different species of Agave and grow very differently. 'Racing Stripes' is the largest and most commanding, does not have the red coloration of 'Center of Attention', and has a more upright habit than 'Shadow Waltz'.

Mangave is a relatively new phenomenon, as a cross between the genus Manfreda and Agave. These rare hybrids combine the best of both worlds: the better growth rate and the interesting patterns of Manfreda, and the habit and refinement of Agave. We are very excited about our new hybrids from Walters Gardens, Inc. hybridizing. Growers will appreciate the fast growth rate of Mangave-these hybrids finish more quickly than Agave, thanks to their Manfreda parentage. Look to the future for more interesting and unique looks to join the collection!
