Common Name: Mangave
This larger scale succulent has a size to fit its name. As an overall look, the leaves are burgundy red, but upon closer inspection, you'll realize the spotting is so intense and concentrated it obscures the green leaves. Make sure to have this plant in plenty of light to bring out the red color. This is a large, magnificent plant with wide, arching leaves and a terminal spine at the end of each leaf. Use as a focal point in large combination containers and get your neighbors talking!
Mangave is a relatively new phenomenon, as a cross between the genus Manfreda and Agave. These rare hybrids combine the best of both worlds: the better growth rate and the interesting patterns of Manfreda, and the habit and refinement of Agave. We are very excited about our new hybrids from Walters Gardens, Inc. hybridizing. Growers will appreciate the fast growth rate of Mangave-these hybrids finish more quickly than Agave, thanks to their Manfreda parentage.
